What writers ask first.
Does MechaSquid write my book for me?+
No. There is no "write my book" button, and MechaSquid is not built for that. It is built to take everything else off your hands so that you can write. If you connect your own AI assistant, what you ask it to do is up to you. What we make sure of is that every change it makes is recorded and can be undone.
Do I need an AI assistant?+
No. Planning, writing, the story bible, the timeline, the map, comments and sharing all work without one. If you do use Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect it and it will know your book, but that is entirely your choice.
Can I bring in what I have already written?+
Yes. Import your draft and carry on from there. MechaSquid finds the characters and places in your text and starts your story bible from them, so you do not begin with an empty page.
Is it only for novels?+
Novels come first, but the planning tools work for any story that needs a world and a structure: games with side quests, tabletop campaigns, screenplays, plays and non-fiction.
Who can see my book?+
Only you. When you want readers, you make a private copy for them, either as a link or as a personal invitation, and you can take it back at any time.
How do I get access?+
MechaSquid is in early access, and joining is by invitation. If you have an invitation code, you can start your first book right away.
